During times of grave illness and the approach of death, we are often drawn to the Church or our faith for comfort – sometimes a faith which we hadn’t realised was even present in our lives. Your parish church community and ministers are here to support you should you wish and part of this support may include the administration of ‘Last Rites’ which is a pastoral and sacramental act offered to those nearing the ends of their lives. The Last Rites can offer a deep sense of comfort to those close to the end and the family members or friends around them.
When administering the Last Rites, a priest will offer words of comfort, prayer and anointing with sacred oil.
