You have probably come to this page because you are wondering about having your baby or child christened. The birth of a child is an amazing experience, despite the sleepless nights and nappy changes! But a baby’s arrival is a life changing experience for the whole family and many parents express a strong desire to say thank you to God.
We believe that your child is as precious to God as they are to you and we would love to welcome you and your child. Christenings (also called Baptisms) are the formal welcome into the family of the world wide Christian church. It marks the very beginning of an amazing lifelong journey with God and we recognise that it is a very special day for your child and the whole family.
For more information on arranging a christening, come and meet with one of the clergy on a Sunday morning, or pop along to the Little Fishes toddlers and parents/carers group at 9.30am on Friday mornings in St. Peter’s, Henfield. If after speaking with us you decide that a christening isn’t for you but you would prefer a more informal service in which you say thank you to God for your child, then we can arrange a Thanksgiving service for you.
