It was announced on the 7th January that the Bishop of Chichester has appointed Canon Paul Doick the new Rector of St Paul’s Chichester and St. Peter’s, Westhammpnett. Paul’s last Sunday will be Easter Day 31st March. Paul and Jan moved to Henfield in June 2014 and he was licensed as the Vicar of Henfield and Rector of Shermanbury and Woodmancote in July that year. Paul said, ‘It’s so hard to announce to your congregations that you are going to be moving on. There has been so much we have loved about being in Henfield and we will miss living here hugely, but it feels that the time is right to move on to pastures new.’ During the vacancy the Churchwardens and the Rural Dean will ensure that the day to day running of the church continues. People will still be able to come to church for Christenings, Weddings and Funerals and Sunday services will continue as usual. The process of appointing a new Rector will be described in the Parish Magazine over the next few months.
