The Friends of St.Peter’s present a talk by Julia Simpson. “Secrets of the silk road.” Tuesday 18th July 7.30pm

Secrets of the Silk Road,  Tuesday 18th July 7.30pm,  The Garden Room, Henfield Hall

A talk by Julia Simpson who has recently returned from a wide ranging trip through four of the five “STANS”, countries of Central Asia. This part of the world most of us know little about and never travel to. Come and find out about some of the least visited places of the area as well as a taste of the more famous aspects of the Silk Road in Central Asia.  Places as diverse as the lake where Alexander the Great’s horse drowned, the remains of the Aral Sea, a country where men over 62 must dress in black and white and grow a beard…… and of course the great splendours of Timur.

The talk is being promoted by The Friends of St. Peter’s Church. We are an organisation formed to raise funds solely for the purpose of maintaining the fabric of the building and graveyard. Please help us to continue to care for this remarkable building by coming to hear this fascinating talk. The tickets cost £7.50 including refreshments and can be obtained from Village Care and from the Ticket Line, 01273 492294 from the 26th June or on the door on the evening.
