The usual service pattern at each Church is listed below:

St. Peter’s, Henfield

Sundays at 10.00am

  • 1st Sunday:  Celebrate! All Age Praise. A service designed for the whole family using  songs, hymns, activities, prayers and a short talk and lasting about 45 mins
  • 2nd, and 3rd Sundays:  Parish Communion, with junior church (Sunday School) A modern service of Holy Communion with hymns, prayers, readings, and a sermon/talk.
  • 4th Sunday: Family Communion, with junior church.  A more informal service of Holy Communion with hymns, prayers, readings, and a short sermon/talk.

Other Sunday Services. 

  • 2nd and 4th Sundays: 8.30am  Holy Communion. A quiet said service using the poetic and beautiful words of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer (BCP)
  • 1st and 3rd Sundays: 6:30pm  – 1st Sunday of the month.  A reflective said service of Holy Communion using contemporary language and including readings, prayers, a short sermon or reflection and some recorded music to aid prayer.  3rd Sunday of the month. Contemplative Prayer Service. These services use resources from many Christian traditions such as Taize or the  more Celtic service of the Iona Community, and include times of silence.
  • 5th Sunday:  A service of Choral Evensong from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer with Hymns and a short sermon. This service will rotate around the 3 churches, and is often at the earlier time of 5.30pm; contact the church office for details.

Midweek

Morning Prayer 8:00am Mon-Fri, Sat 8:30am

Compline (Night Prayer) Tuesday 8.00pm (from Shrove Tuesday until Holy Week Compline is held at the later time of 9pm)

Holy Communion Wednesday 10:30am; Thursday 7:15pm

 

St. Giles’, Shermanbury

Sundays at 11.15am

  • 1st Sunday of the month: Matins (BCP) A traditional  sung service of Morning Prayer using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer (BCP) including hymns and a short sermon.
  • 3rd Sunday of the month:  Holy Communion (BCP) A traditional Communion service using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer (BCP) includes well known hymns and a short sermon.

Sundays at 9.45am

  • 1st Sunday: Holy Communion (BCP),   A sung  service using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.
  • 2nd and 4th Sundays: Matins (BCP)      A traditional  sung service of Morning Prayer using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer including hymns and a short sermon.
  • 3rd and 5th Sundays: Holy Communion; A  said service of Holy Communion in modern language with hymns and a short sermon/talk
