St. Peter’s Henfield
Origins as far back as 770AD, and mentioned in the Domesday Book… St. Peter’s is steeped in history.
A previous incumbent, Henry de Candole, who was vicar here in the 1940s, and then later Bishop of Knaresborough, wrote a Story of Henfield in 1947, that catalogues not only some of the history of the village, but also of St. Peter’s.
A History of St Peter’s Church Henfield was produced in 1987 by Barbara Oliver – some printed copies are still available, and a pdf of the text is available by clicking on the following link. Normal, and LARGE PRINT copies available. The text has not been updated since 1987, so it makes no mention of the subsequent list of clergy, nor of the major re-ordering that took place in 2007/8.
