 St. Peter’s, Henfield

Sunday 23rd December at 5.30pm: Service of lessons and carols by candlelight.  This service of popular carols, choral pieces and bible readings is a classic service and is enjoyed by all ages.  Candles will be lit half way through the service. Join us for Mince pies and refreshments, including mulled wine afterwards.

Christmas Eve: Monday 24th December

4.00pm: Crib Service.  A service designed for the whole family with carols, the Christmas story and lots of fun. Children are  invited to come dressed as angels, kings, shepherds or even the little donkey or another farmyard animal. A great way to start the Christmas celebrations. We do understand that children can start to get very excited by this time on Christmas eve and so this service will last no more than 30-40 minutes. 

11.30pm: Midnight Mass. A modern service of Holy Communion with well known Carols, a short Christmas message, prayers and a celebration of communion.   A wonderful service in which to start your celebration of Christmas.

Christmas Day: Tuesday 25th December

8.30am: Traditional Christmas Day Communion. An early Christmas morning service of Holy Communion using the traditional words of the Book of Common Prayer. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy a said, prayerful service and be home in time to put the turkey on!

10.00am:  Christmas Day Parish Communion for all ages.  A modern celebration of Holy Communion with well known carols and a short child friendly message.

St. Giles’, Shermanbury

Sunday 9th December at 4pm:  Service of Lessons and Carols.   This traditional service of popular carols and bible readings is a classic service and can enjoyed by all ages in the wonderful setting of St Giles’. Local  opera singer Sidonie Winter provides a solo piece as we begin to look towards the Christmas season. The churchwardens invite you to join them for refreshments, including mulled wine  after this service.

Christmas Day: Tuesday 25th December at 9.45am:  Christmas Holy Communion.  A traditional service of Holy Communion from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer which will include some popular Christmas carols and a short sermon.

St. Peter’s, Woodmancote

Sunday 16th December at 11.00am:  Service of Lessons and Carols.  This traditional service of popular carols and bible readings is a  wonderful service  in this beautiful parish church. Local Opera singer Sidonie Winter provides a solo piece. After the service our regular congregation  invite you to join them for mulled wine and mince pies.

Christmas Eve: Monday 24th December at 6.00pm: A Service of Readings and Carols for Christmas Eve.  This is the first time we have had this service at Woodmancote. Lasting about 45 minutes  it contains readings from the Christmas story in Luke’s gospel, some poems, prayers and popular Christmas Carols. The service ends with the blessing of the Crib.   A wonderful way to start your Christmas celebrations.


Worshippers and visitors with disabilities are most welcome at all our churches. If you require any assistance please ask a member of our welcome team on arrival. For wheelchair users or those with other disabilities an accessible toilet facility is available in the south aisle of St. Peter’s Henfield, and through the door opposite the south entrance of St. Peter’s Woodmancote. For those who are hard of hearing a loop system is also available in both churches. At present there are no toilet facilities at St.Giles, Shermanbury but the church is wheelchair accessible.

If you are unable to get to the Altar rail to receive the Sacrament at one of our services of Holy Communion, please tell one of the Welcome team and they will make sure the Clergy bring the Sacrament to you .
