On Sunday 19th November worshippers returned to their newly redecorated and refurbished church.  It was a very joyous celebration of choral Mattins with an excellent uplifting sermon by Revd Harriet and many people stayed behind afterwards to chat over coffee.

The Wednesday morning before the re-opening parishioners turned out in force driving to and fro from Angela Underwood’s garage, where everything had been stored, and then ferrying all the kneelers, carpeting, banners and other  important items from the car park, back into the church. Revd Harriet helped and found time to take a few pictures of the ‘workforce’.

On 3rd November there was a Coffee Morning aimed at reuniting members of Woodmancote’s congregation whilst the church was shut.  This also included a Bring and Buy Stall that raised £200 for the Fabric Fund.  Thank you to everyone who supported this event.

The services for the next few weeks are as follows:
Sun 26 Nov                 Communion (CW) taken by Revd Paul

Sun 3 Dec                   Thanksgiving Service taken by Revd Paul

Sun 10 Dec                 Mattins

Sun 17 Dec                 Carol Service (at 11am)

Choral Evensong at St. Peter’s Woodmancote. Sunday 29th May

For those who enjoy the sung service of Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer come to St.Peter’s, Woodmancote on Sunday 29th May. Tea and cake will be available from 4pm and the service starts at 5.30pm. This year marks the 460th anniversary of the deaths of Thomas Harland and John Oswald, residents of Woodmancote who were martyred in 1556 at Lewes during the Marian persecutions. To mark this part of our history prayers will be said at the martyrs memorial in the church yard. Do come and share in this beautiful and poetic act of worship on a late spring evening.
