Choral Evensong at St. Peter’s Woodmancote. Sunday 29th May

For those who enjoy the sung service of Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer come to St.Peter’s, Woodmancote on Sunday 29th May. Tea and cake will be available from 4pm and the service starts at 5.30pm. This year marks the 460th anniversary of the deaths of Thomas Harland and John Oswald, residents of Woodmancote who were martyred in 1556 at Lewes during the Marian persecutions. To mark this part of our history prayers will be said at the martyrs memorial in the church yard. Do come and share in this beautiful and poetic act of worship on a late spring evening.

Ash Wednesday services at St.Peter’s, Henfield.

Lent is the time of year when Christians prepare for Holy Week and Easter and begins on Ash Wednesday.  Its a time of self examination, penitence, self-denial, prayer ,  study of the bible  and charitable giving as we reflect on our faith and seek to become better Christians, turning our hearts towards Jesus Christ.

Lent begins this Wednesday 10th February and there will be 2 services at St. Peter’s , Henfield, at 10.30am and 7.30pm. Both services with include the “imposition of ashes”, the signing of the cross in ashes on the forehead, as a sign of penitence and of the desire to have a Holy Lent.  The services will both include the sharing of bread and wine in Holy Communion and the evening service will also include some hymns.  All are welcome to join us.  For more information please contact the Parish/Benefice office on 01273 495532
