I WONDER………… Children’s Holiday Club 21,22,23 August

This Summer St. Peter’s Church, Henfield will be holding its first holiday club for a number of years.  All 4-11 year olds are invited to come and join us for three mornings of playing with faith stories. There will be plenty of storytelling and “wondering” about what it all means, as well as time to respond with art and play. Each morning will end with a picnic lunch.

The holiday club will take place on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd August between 9.30am and 1pm and there will be a charge of £5 per child and then £3 for each additional brother and sister. The club will be jointly run by St. Peter’s Church and the Sussex Godly Play Network and is open to all.

Former Curate installed as new Dean of Lincoln Cathedral.

Lincoln Cathedral - A wonderful welcome to the new Dean

Back in May this year it was announced that a former curate in Henfield, Christine Wilson, had been appointed to be the new Dean of Lincoln Cathedral. Many people will remember Christine, her husband Alan, and their family during their years in Henfield. She trained on the Southern Diocese Ministerial Training Scheme while her daughters were studying for GCSEs and A-levels, and was ordained deacon in 1997, and priest in1998. In 2002, Christine was appointed Team Vicar of St John the Baptist, Hove where she went on to train our current vicar Rev’d Paul and in 2008, she was appointed Vicar of St Mary and St Lawrence, Goring-by-Sea, and it was during this period that tragically her middle daughter died from cancer. Within a year of being at Goring-by-Sea, she was recruited as Archdeacon of Chesterfield in 2010. Christine is a member of  the General Synod, (The Church of England’s governing body) and was one of the  eight female participant observers on the House of Bishops.

We all wish Christine the very best in her new role.

Christine’s installation took place on the 22nd October. For details please follow the following link.
