Thy Kingdom Come…………a week of prayer.

Prayer is one of the things that are at the heart of what it means to be a Christian, so it came as no surprise that during February the Archbishops of Canterbury and York wrote to all vicars in the Church of England inviting them, and their congregations, to unite in a week of prayer before Pentecost (15th May)

The Archbishops hope that the week will help all Christians to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, to have the confidence to share the good news of Jesus in their daily lives, and for all to respond to the call of Jesus to follow him as disciples and to seek God’s kingdom from day to day.

It’s an opportunity for the churches of the benefice, together with the other churches and other Christians in our villages to listen to God and to pray for our wider communities and for one another.

During the week of the 8th – 15th May there will be the following opportunities to share in prayer.

Sun 8th May: 4pm “Prayer and Worship” in the Free Church Hall

Mon 9th May: 8pm “Compline (Night Prayer) by candlelight” in St Peter’s, Henfield

Weds 11th May: 5.30pm Evening Prayer at St Peter’s, Woodmancote

Thurs 12th May:  7.15pm  Holy Communion at St Peter’s, Henfield

We are pleased to announce today, the 21 February 2016 that the Reverend Peter O’Connell, presently Curate in the benefice of Henfield, Woodmancote and Shermanbury in the Diocese of Chichester, has been presented by the Archbishop of Canterbury to be Rector of the Benefice of Godstone & Blindley Heath and appointed by the Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Revd Christopher Chessun.
